Our Story
The heart behind DOSE Fest
DOSE Fest did not begin as an event. It began as a question.
How do we create spaces where people can feel well, connected, and supported before they reach crisis point?
Our Story is about how that question led to The Happiness Equation CIC, a not-for-profit organisation,
and why community-led wellbeing now sits at the centre of everything we do.
The Founder
The Happiness Equation CIC was founded by Myra, following her own journey of self-growth, healing, and learning how to listen to her body, her needs, and her inner voice.
Over the last decade, Myra explored practical tools for self-wellness, reflection, creativity, and connection that fundamentally changed how she understood health and happiness. This personal learning shaped a belief that wellbeing should feel accessible, human, and grounded in everyday life.
Her work is informed by lived experience and driven by a deep commitment to inclusion, community, and long-term change.
What community taught us
Alongside her personal journey, Myra’s work with Angel Pavilion Community Hub brought these beliefs to life in a real and practical way.
Angel Pavilion is a locally rooted, multi-purpose space built around creativity, connection, and care. In the wake of COVID, it became a trusted and welcoming place for the local community. A space where people could rebuild confidence, restore connection, and regain a sense of belonging.
This experience demonstrated what is possible when wellbeing is placed at the centre of community life, not as a response to crisis, but as a foundation for resilience.

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”
– Mother Teresa.
Why this work matters
At Myra's core is a desire to "start finding solutions & stop finding faults", which is exactly what DOSE Fest encompasses. When we work from a place of 'how do we address the problem' and roll our sleeves up to do something about it - we are actioning the beginning of change.
Working at a community level also revealed a difficult truth. Access to safe spaces, supportive networks, and preventative wellbeing opportunities is not equal.
Too many people are excluded due to cost, confidence, culture, or circumstance. As a result, support often arrives too late, once individuals and communities are already struggling.
The Happiness Equation CIC exists to respond to this gap. Our work focuses on creating opportunities that are open, accessible, and rooted in place, enabling communities to build confidence in self-wellness, connection, and collective care.
Why DOSE Fest exists
DOSE Fest is the natural evolution of this learning.
It was created as a joyful, inclusive gathering that helps people explore wellbeing in a way that feels tangible, supportive, and empowering. Not clinical. Not intimidating. Simply human.
The festival is designed to act as a catalyst rather than a one-off event. An invitation for people to discover what supports their wellbeing and to feel part of something bigger than themselves.
A long-term vision
DOSE Fest is the flagship initiative of The Happiness Equation CIC, but it is only one part of a wider vision.
Looking ahead, our ambition is for DOSE Fest to grow into a flexible, place-based model that communities can shape for themselves, drawing on local voices, assets, and lived experience.
Alongside the festival, we will deliver pop-up events and ongoing programmes that help sustain pride, connection, and momentum throughout the year.
This work is about long-term change rather than short-term intervention. It is about building healthier, happier communities through creativity, connection, and shared responsibility, with creative and physical activities underpinning our offering for all.
